This work was originally a virtual artwork in a set for She Falls for Ages (2017). In my effort to create a world that had imagery related to Haudenosaunee culture, I of course looked towards wampum belts. The famous Friendship Belt, in which the figures hold hands, was a perfect template. In Skyworld, the people have skin that is colored either pink, blue, purple, yellow, green or orange, so the figures in Circle Wampum (2017) echo them.

It became a physical object when I learned that prints can be face mounted onto acrylic of various thicknesses. When I make a physical version of an item created originally in and for cyberspace, I feel that I am bringing my future that I am hoping for closer to today, closer to becoming a reality.
