Celestial Tree with Blossoms that Light the World was inspired by a virtual bedcover briefly seen in my 2017 machinima She Falls for Ages. A sci-fi retelling of the Hotinonshón:ni creation story, it begins in Skyworld, where the Celestial Tree grows, producing blossoms that emit light.  These whole-cloth, hand-stitched quilts, made with luxurious dupioni silk, are seemingly imported from cyberspace, or perhaps from Skyworld. The unusual circular shape recall portals to other worlds, while the quilt’s association with the bed and, in turn, with dreaming connects to the artist’s hopes for a peaceful and just future.
